Getting Started with Kings of War
The Fantasy Mass Battle Miniatures Game
Getting started with Kings of War has never been easier. Kings of War is the awesome fantasy mass battle wargame from Mantic Games, first created by legendary games designer Alessio Cavatore.
From its humble beginnings as a budget friendly rank and flank table top game, Kings of War is now on its 3rd edition and has grown to be enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of players all over the world.
Since its inception, Kings of War has focussed on streamlined, easy-to-learn but hard-to-master game mechanics beloved by the ever-growing community. This, combined with over fifteen years of improvements to lore, model sculpts, and rules make right now the best time to enjoy this fantastic tabletop wargame.
What's more, Kings of War does away with single-based figures. Instead, players are encouraged to make each unit its own diorama, opening up endless hobby fun, not to mention being far easier to transport!
Multiple ways to start!
There is no easier way to get started with Kings of War than with one of the 2-player starter boxes. Each set contains two Kings of War forces and the full 3rd Edition Compendium rulebook.
If you're looking to start a new army, or try Kings of War in smaller points games, then look no further than one of the excellent value Ambush starter boxes.
Community Focussed Fantasy Wargame
Kings of War benefits from the RC (Rules Committee) - an external collection of community members tasked with bringing balance to over 25 playable factions. These hero's work tirelessly to ensure that new releases and existing armies have no inherent or universal advantage, avoiding pay-to-win situations.
Every year each faction is adjusted for balance in the Clash of Kings update books. This supplement provides lore for any newly introduced or refreshed factions and points changes and rules updates across all units in the game.
Digitally Supported wargames Ruleset
As well as physical, beautifully laid out books, the Kings of War ruleset can be accessed in a number of digital ways. The free-version ruleset can be downloaded in PDF form, or sent as a free booklet in any order that postage applies.
The free and full rulesets can also be accessed in the Mantic Companion - a web-app that provides the official List Builders, Stats Tools, a smart-searchable rulebook, Tournaments, Events and more; a complete resource for anyone getting started with Kings of War.
