Forces of the Abyss – Coming to Armada!

Welcome back to Armada - the game of fantasy naval warfare - and exciting news just in: the Forces of the Abyss are coming!
With new players joining Armada since the game system embraced the 3D-printing community, we're pleased to reveal our third new digital fleet in the Mantic Vault - on top of the 10 that are available both digitally and as physical models.
Between The Devil & The Deep Blue Sea
The Forces of the Abyss fleet had to bring all the key themes of the Kings of War army to the waters of our fantasy world. Every setting needs a cast of villains after all, so expect fire, demons, and more besides...
But we've never seen them at sea. How do they sail? What are their vessels like? We tasked one of our concept artists, Noemi, to start imagining how they might look as a naval force to be reckoned with.
And she didn't disappoint! Steel yourself, and stare into the abyss...
Did it stare back?
From here Noemi kept tweaking and refining ideas until, together, we started to settle on just how the new fleet would take shape.

Over the next couple of months, our awesome subscribers to the Mantic Vault (our STL library service) will see how these sketch designs made the leap into a collection of amazing new Armada miniatures.

There's Demons On The Starboard Bow
If there's one thing Armada players love (among many others!), it's XL ships. They're the biggest, the baddest, and often the coolest to paint as well....
Some of the early concepts above went on to evolve into the Archfiend – an XL 'barge' complete with a throne for its namesake.
Here it is, presented as a 'level 2' concept, and a big step forward from the earlier sketches:
Usually 'crew' aren't visible on Armada models because they would be so small, but there's no hiding from this fella – and without giving away too much, you may want to keep your distance from that axe...
As your first look at the fleet in its final form, let's see how this particular ship turned out. If you're a sailor innocently minding your business on the Endless Sea, this really is the stuff of nightmares!
