Halo: Flashpoint – Getting Creative

9th Oct 2024

Dan Mapleston

So, with a starter box containing pre-assembled minis (in convenient team colours) and easy-build slot-together terrain…how much room does the Halo: Flashpoint launch range leave you to get creative?

As it turns out – LOTS. Allow us to elaborate…

Custom Colours

The miniatures in Halo: Flashpoint are packed full of cool detail and whether you’re a painting beginner or a maestro with a brush, Spartan armour makes the perfect canvas for packing your troops full of personality.

Check out the fireteam below from community painter Glen Wareing – we especially love the Brawler with his woodland colour scheme!

Or check out the fine work below from James Wappel: not only has he created some very cool scenic bases and repositioned one of the arms, he’s done some truly stunning work using oil-based paints.

You can see just how James achieves his fantastic OSL (object source lighting) effects in the video below:

Feeling inspired to flex your well-trained painting skills? Or maybe this is your first foray into miniature painting?

Either way, we have a brilliant paint set on our way as part of Halo: Flashpoint‘s January 2025 releases. It’s also the first retail product to include Master Chief and his game cards, so you’ll have something cool to paint – and then bring immediately onto the tabletop!

Terrain

Halo: Flashpoint was designed with easy slot-together terrain in mind…but what if you can’t resist the chance of recreating your favourite Halo videogame arenas in real life?

If this is you then hello, we’ve been expecting you, and this is why we created the Deluxe Modular Terrain Set! This includes some never-before-seen tile designs made especially for the Halo Universe, and swaps out your thick card terrain for hard plastic modular tiles.

And yes, you can assemble them however you like, with as many sets as you like. You don’t even have to glue these – but we do recommend it for maximum durability.

We’ve also designed this set to be compatible with our existing range of modular sci-fi terrain, which opens up a whole range of cool options for map-building…

Platforms? Sure. Streets? You bet. Oil rigs? Sounds cool. How about opposing skyscrapers with gantries, landing pads, sniper nests and…and…and…you get the idea! The only real limit is your imagination: check out the whole range HERE, and we can’t wait to see what you dream up.

Some members of the community have made a start already, with large and ambitious hard plastic arena projects starting to come together ready for the November launch:

And finally, what if you own a 3D printer? Well, we hear you and we’ve got you covered as well!

The Halo: Flashpoint deluxe terrain set has been designed to be compatible with the existing modular Mantic terrain tiles (again sized for the 3″ grid used in both Deadzone and Halo: Flashpoint) that you can find on MyMiniFactory HERE.

From the outset Halo: Flashpoint is going to be packed with possibilities to get your imagination going, and in Wave 2 you’ll then get the chance to start building custom fireteams…but that really is another blog for another day…

So, what will you create?
