How to Paint the new Terrain Crate 3 Trees and Scatter

Martin Thirlwell
Hi Martin here.
As part of promoting the new Terrain Crate Kickstarter I offered to take a few 3d printed samples and film a couple of How-To videos.
First up was how I did a speed painting job on the new multi-part trees. Ronnie asked me to replicate the look of jungle in the film - Avatar. So here is what i came up with using the Army Painter Speed Paints and my airbrush.
I loved doing this paint job on this kit. I glued all the separate pieces together (you can easily keep them all as individual parts or even magnetise the pieces together) and used my airbrush to blend all the colours together. A real easy 15-20 minute job that can be easily replicated with a normal brush and wet-blending.
Next up was the Sci-Fi scatter terrain and i was really looking forward to this stuff. The pieces are really detailed and perfect for all kings of Sci-Fi games. Everything from Deadzone, Firefight, 40k (with the templates - perfect) and even Legion and slightly grim looking Infinity board.
These were painted in 2 segments. The first is table top standard and a quick way to get some cool looking terrain on your table. The next segment was focussed on weathering and giving the pieces that grim dark look.
For the containers and barrels I did the same techniques, but added some weathering with silver paint and sponged it on. If anyone wants advice on that technique please let me know!
If you like what you see and want a TONNE of terrain for not much money, come and join the campaign on Kickstarter!
Happy painting - Martin
