Make Mince Pies, The Goblin Way…

15th Dec 2022

Jonny Mann

The Holiday Season is all too often associated with Elves and the Goblins have something to say about it!

Available to Pre-Order from today, The Goblin Mincer (and chariot) Mob is sure to make light work of not only mixing those all important ingredients for festive pies but also more than capable of pulverising enemy ranks of equally delicious troops!

Unlike the predominantly destructive and chaotic evil races of the land, the goblin race is a great maker of things. Perhaps fueled largely by their own physical inadequacies or hierarchical shortcomings, they apply their quick and energetic minds to the conception of occasionally baffling contraptions.

Although hastily and clumsily built, Goblins’ contraptions are not to be underestimated. When yoked to a pair of ferocious Mawbeasts a goblin chariot acts as an ideal skirmisher, harrying foes with bow fire and snapping teeth for any who get too close. Mincers on the other hand, are little more than a sets of whirring blades and drills, forced into enemy lines on a temperamental steam engine.

In celebration of todays release, we asked Goblin "baker" Puk Snarlywood for his perfect Mince Pie recipe:

Greadyents

For pastyree

  • heaped helmet of plain flour
  • 'andful of Mawbeast milk
  • plenty of sugar, plus extra for sprinkling (more sugar, more energy for battle!)
  • 1 large Scorchwing egg, plus 2 egg for throwing at annoying kitchen hand

How do it

  • STEP 1

Place all mince gubbins in large Ogre helmet and mixxy it good.

  • STEP 2

mixxy all pastyree gubbins in 'nother helmets till it's stikky.

  • STEP 3

mould pastyree round a tin or helmet and add mince gubbins and lid.

  • STEP 4

Put on top of Mincer engine or stick in t' fire till smells good. Enjoy!

On the battlefield is where the Mincer really excels however! Taken in a "mob" of two or three, they can really pack a punch! Just look at that attack column!

With Crushing Strength (1) AND Thunderous Charge (1) they are certainly there to stand at the back and look pretty , though these new hard plastic kits are indeed very very pretty!

Find all the stats in the Kings of War 3rd Edition Compendium or on the brilliant new Mantic Companion App.

If you wish to try your hand at baking or better still want to crush your enemies, then Pre-Order the Mincer Mob today! This fantastic new set is due for release on the 16th January and is available from our webstore and of course your Friendly Local Gaming Store!

And don't forget this great kit also makes chariots too! This set contains 3 Goblin Chariots (that can make mincers too) and Goblin crew for each one!

Yes that's right THREE! Enough to make a regiment and at fantastic value too!

Goblin Mega Army

The only thing more dangerous than a small Goblin army is a Goblin horde. When a Biggit gets important enough to rally this many Goblins to his banner, he becomes a force to be reckoned with, their numbers serving to offset their natural cowardice as well as overwhelm the enemy under a swarming tide of vicious, stabby little bodies.

Kings of War Giant

The Kings of War Giant is a huge humanoid, a veritable mountain of bone, sinew, and flesh with a massive appetite. The brain of a giant is way too small to properly control the creature’s huge body. However, when goaded in the right direction, these dumb brutes are a terrible threat to any foe.

This immense PVC plastic model measures almost 19cm tall and includes a range options for customising your giant – perfect if you want to field two or more! You can take this as a unit in either an Orc, Goblin, or Ogre army in your games of Kings of War. Plus additional armies will be boosted with the option of a Giant in the upcoming Clash of Kings supplement.

The Kings of War Giant is also perfect for tabletop roleplaying games like 5e Dungeons and Dragons and Pathfinder, a truly monstrous Hill Giant BBEG!

Goblin Mawpup Launcher

Each of these crude machines is loaded with the runts from a litter of Mawbeasts before they’re launched skywards at terrifying speeds. Some even survive the ‘flight’ too. Seeing an angry pup hurtling towards them is often the enemy’s first sign of a Mawpup Launcher’s deployment.

Goblin Miniatures: Sharpsticks / Spitters / Rabble

This Goblin Miniatures set includes enough options to make 20 goblins and 4 “mawpup” dog figures. The set is HIPS hard plastic, and the models are 28-32mm in scale.

Goblins in Kings of War may appear to be fairly harmless. However, once they band together in small regiments, armed with whatever weapons they can find – only a fool would underestimate them.

At the heart of any goblin army, you’ll find scores and scores of Spitters. Armed with crude bows, the Spitters may not be accurate, but when you’re firing hundreds of arrows across the battlefield you’ll hit the enemy at least now and again. Being a Spitter is actually a sought after position among the goblins – mainly because you get to stay away from the enemy!

Unlike a Rabble, some goblins take their combat training a little more seriously, i.e. they learn where they should be aiming the pointy bit. In this case the pointy bit is on a large stick they aim in the general direction of the enemy and hope for the best while marching forward. The Sharpsticks aren’t exactly elite troops, but they get the job done.
