Mantic OPEN DAY (25/11): Participation and Cool Stuff

14th Nov 2017

Pat "Chopper" Lewis

On November 25th Mantic Games invites you, our friends, to join us for our biannual OPEN DAY. You can choose a single ticket, or the Group ticket which covers four attendees for the price of three!

The OPEN DAY has been steadily evolving and inevitably this one will be the biggest yet. Previous attendees know that the Main Hall is at capacity, so we will be utilising a couple of extra rooms to add in more and varied things to do. Our ultimate aim is to create an aspiring environment that will inspire your own hobby and captivate you for 4 or more hours!

We began this process by asking what we want in an Open Day, then we addressed each point. We believe this is our best offering to date and we believe you'll agree.

There are three blogs in this series, each describing one of the following zones of interest:

  1. Participation and Cool Stuff,
  2. Learning,
  3. Open Day and Black Friday Weekend deals

1. PARTICIPATION AND COOL STUFF

From our list we realised that when visiting another company, or going to a convention, many of us like to try out a new game, or play something we know with a twist. As far as eye candy, we were unanimous that seeing inspirational models, displays, and previews were a must-have. And free stuff. Who doesn't like free stuff?

The Goodie Bag

As you enter you'll be welcomed with a bag containing a couple of things to pique your interest. As we are celebrating the release of Star Saga it made sense that you'll get one of the brand new retail-exclusive Kira models (above). This Sphyr Mercenary is an incredible one-piece resin model that was cast on site (so she's still a fresh catch). You'll also receive a voucher for use at the Mantic Store on the day (£5 off £50 purchases / £10 off £100 purchases), and also a map and timetable for the day. There are THREE Golden Tickets, each of which will win the recipient a copy of the Collector's Edition of The Walking Dead: All Out War!

Participation Games

You're in the Main Hall now and you are greeted by a smorgasbord of gaming! As well as our newly developed 20-minute variants for Star Saga and The Walking Dead: All Out War, there will be opportunities to learn Vanguard first hand! If you'd like to sink your teeth into something for an hour then we've put together multi-player scenarios for Star Saga and The Walking Dead: All Out War. While our infamous Jetbike Racing is taking a well-earned rest, we will be running the Mantica National, which unsurprisingly is a racing game using Kings of War models!

More Free Things!

The Paint & Take will once again be setting up stall. This time we'll be offering up Star Saga Minions for you to try your hand at. As with the Walkers of the past two Open Days there will be both a step-by-step guide and on-hand painters should you need advice. It's a relaxing 30 minutes of your day.

Aspiration Our talented photographer, Ben, will be setting up another of his incredible displays. Previous Open Days have seen a city and parkland set up for The Walking Dead: All Out War, and an inspirational snippet from our Warpath Universe.

The display cabinets in the Main Hall are being cleaned and primed for some showcase models old, new, and forthcoming! Everyone loves a preview and nothing says it better than models painted to an exceptional standard.

Foodie Goodness

Finally, should you need sustenance while you're with us for an extended visit, we are pleased to welcome the Al Fresco Pizza Co. who will be set up in the front car-park with their stunning range of wood-fired pizzas (including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free!). For lighter snacks and drinks while you're waiting for an exceptional lunch we'll be running our tuck-shop indoors.

There will be more to be revealed in the companion blogs, so check back! In the meantime, here is the timetable for the day - we did say it would be busy, right? Pick up your ticket now!
