Midweek Round-Up – 16th February

16th Feb 2022

Jonny Mann

Hello and welcome to the Midweek Round-Up.

This is the place to find all the best hobby content from in and around the Mantic community over the last week or so.

Get your paintbrush at the ready, ‘cos your about to feel inspired!

This week, with "A storm in the shires" available to pre-order, we delve into a Kings Of War themed round-up

LOOK A DOGGO!!

Great, now we have you attention!

Its was great to see so many games of Kings Of War being played at Beachhead 2022 this weekend and traders such as The Pit Gaming Shop, who brought along a tiny new member of the Pit Crew!

This Goreblight by Markus Schafrath is fantastic, the flesh tone is perfect and the base is very nicely done too. Necromancy is a process of trial and error. For every successful reanimation, there are countless failures that blight the land but this isnt one of them, top job!

Ben Stoddard has swayed this Basilean Phoenix to the side of evil and is using it to represent his void lurker for his Nightstalker army. it just goes to show how versatile some models can be with a bit of imagination.

The folks over at Death By Dragons have recently put together a report on the UK Masters that happened earlier this month, go check it out!

flayedskullminiatures has painted this Abyssal Dwarf IronCaster with a really eye catching scheme, using Object Source Lighting (OSL), a difficult technique to get right but we think they have definitely got it bang on with this model.

One of the many great things about Kings Of War is that you get to do awesome scenic Multibases for your miniatures to stand proudly atop. Often the basing can be just as rewarding as the models themselves and mousekillerminiatures over on Instagram has done something CRAZY with their paving (pun unintended*). This idea is so effective, we love it!

You can pick up Movement trays in various sizes for all the units in the range here.

*My Puns are actually always intended, I've trained very hard.

Ben Owens has been painting Snow Trolls and this Snow Troll Prime looks great. Snow Troll Primes are greatly respected by the Snow Trolls they lead, as well as the other warriors in the Alliance, for their fearsome leadership and brutal efficiency and this one will command great respect for its paint job too!

The Midweek Round-Up will be coming to you every Wednesday, so keep your eyes peeled! And if you want to make sure we spot your great work, use the hashtag #MyMantic when posting on social media.

Goreblight

Necromancy is a process of trial and error. For every successful reanimation, there are countless failures that blight the land, living out a painful half-existence. Some, more enterprising Necromancers will suture those failures still moving together, creating a vile, mewling abomination that still has some use in battle. After all, few soldiers hold their nerve when charged by a pulsating avalanche of flesh

Kings of War Phoenix

The phoenix is the symbol of Basilea: an emblem of rebirth, holy fire, and blazing fury. These semi-magical birds are summoned by the mages of Basilea to fight with the armies of the Hegemon. Phoenixes are vast birds of prey, part fire, and part feather, they are the favoured creature of the Shining One Fulgria, the goddess of fire, and legend states how they were created from her own sacred flames.
