Hello and welcome to the Midweek Round-Up.
This is the place to find all the best hobby content from in and around the Mantic community over the last week or so.
Get your paintbrush at the ready, ‘cos you're about to feel inspired!
The weekend just gone saw the Kings of War speed tournament "COUNTDOWN" here at Mantic HQ.
Countdown is a fast-paced Kings of War tournament format that sees your play time reduce through the course of day. Start at 25 minutes before eventually reducing down to just 15(!) minutes for the final time and only has a points limit of 1,000.
This week we take a look at the armies that featured over the weekend.
Rusty Shackleford's striking Abyssal Dwarfs even has themed wound counters, which is a superb touch. Plus, with just three hordes to move around, it was quickly to play too.
Orange you glad to see Andy Ransome's troll-heavy goblin army?
What's this, more goblins? Dan Bailey went horde crazy and even tried out the Explode-o-matic Bangstiks formation from Clash of Kings.
Now, we've got a fantastic dwarf army from Andrew Jones. Those circular shields, really help to give this army a unique look.
Our own Rob took to the tabletop with his melee-heavy goblins, led by the superb Groany Snark.
Water lot of water elementals in John Estall's Order of the Green Lady force. Loving those cheeky otters.
Here you can see Ian Davies' winning Forces of the Abyss faction. Due to a slight mix-up on the day, we thought Ian had come third... but he actually came first. Oh, the joys of learning how to use tournament software on the day.
Striking colour combinations can really help to bring an army together and Jon Leigh's halflings definitely look the part.
Dan Kennedy took the painting prize on the day for his Nightstalkers, and you can see why. That Shadowhulk is particularly impressive. Due to the aforementioned mix-up on the day, Dan was actually in top spot but ended up coming third.
Next we've got James Harrison's excellent dwarfs. Again, swapping out the shields, really helps to give the army a unique look.
Finally, Richard Laking brought along his undead force.
