Warehouse Goblin AWOL!!
7th Dec 2021
Jonny Mann
As we speak a Warehouse Goblin has been set loose and is lurking somewhere in the offices, proceed with caution! These creatures are not used to the office life: carpets, soft furnishings and mod cons, etc. and they may be volatile.
Or they may just settle in nicely and start writing lots of fun and inspiring hobby blogs and content for you lovely people!
Ey Up!
My name's Jonny and, as of this week, I am Mantic Games' new Marketing Content Creator.
What does that entail? I hear you gasp with excitement!
Well, I will be helping the Marketing Team in delivering lots of new digital content for you to feast your eyes on. This means more blogs, extra content on our social channels, new videos and live streams to engage the community with interesting hobby content that inspires and excites.
Here’s a little more about me and my love of all things Mantic. My most loved game is Armada! I currently have a Northern Alliance Fleet (using Basiliean or KoM rules) that I made with ships from the Basilean fleet .
You can read all about my fleet here.
On my hobby desk I currently have the makings of a pirate fleet. I want to use different ships from different fleets to represent the hostile takeovers that will have happened on the high seas of Pannithor. This fleet could really use whatever rules it likes, but for now I will be using Kingdom of Men rules.
I also dabble in Kings of War. I have built and painted much more than I’ve played, but getting stuck into the staff tournament last week really got me hooked further, even if I did lose all three games.
I played Salamanders, which was a lot of fun and I can see how with the smallest tweaks the list could be really competitive. As with a lot of the Kings of War armies I start (and often don’t finish - you’re not alone) I begin with picking a unit or model I just absolutely love and then try to fit a full army around it. My colleague Dave has challenged me to try simply pick up a mega army and paint it because, as he puts it, “you never just build a simple army, do you”. In this instance it was the Lekelidon and the Rhinosaur Cavalry that really got me yearning to do a reptile or dinosaur themed list. As a previously trained horticulturalist, I'll take any excuse to get plants and animals in my army
I also have a substantial Nightstalker army. The part of the hobby I enjoy most is building and converting things, so the opportunity to slap tentacles on everything brings me much joy. My next project for them is to complete my next two “Pumpkin Giants” so I can field three! I'll totally get them done before the year's out, like past Jonny promised in the Mantic Hobby Resolutions Blog
WHAT!?! It's December already! Where has the year gone?! Ok, maybe I’ll get one done…
In the past I have also played Dungeon Saga quite a bit. I’ve done Deadzone strike teams, though still need to learn 3rd edition properly. I really love our Hellboy range and I often find myself painting miniatures from all our different game systems just simply because I like the model.
Don’t be scared to say hello as you see me popping up more regularly on the socials and, hopefully, I shall see lots of you at upcoming events going forward!
I may even bring my goody box!
